Part two : Research
What are Green Meals?
DAILY FOOD TABLE
Two members of our team kept track of what meals they ate throughout few days as a means of research and diving into the usual diet habits people have on a daily basis.
CO2 Emissions
How does the food we eat contribute to the everyday CO2 emissions?
The carbon footprint of your meal is determined by the greenhouse gas emissions produced by growing, rearing, farming, processing, transporting, storing, cooking and disposing of the food you eat.
Transport, housing and food have the three largest carbon footprints. Food produces about 17% of the total CO2 emissions in a household. Thus, changing the type of foods you eat can have a positive impact on your carbon footprint and possibly save the environment from further damage.
Here is a table that shows the greenhouse gas emissions produced by one kilo of popular food items. It also shows how many miles you need to drive to produce that many greenhouse gases. (Source)

Raising and breeding livestock has a very large carbon footprint, as the amount of resources it takes to take care of the animals is massive. Moving to a vegetarian-based diet does a lot of good to the environment due to its relatively small footprint.
If you want to calculate the carbon footprint of your meals, there are plenty of helpful resources and calculators you can find on the Internet. One that I found useful is https://www.vegansociety.com/take-action/campaigns/plate-planet/carbon-calculator.

The local suppliers have vegetables and fruits that are locally grown without adding much preservatives. INTERVIEWS
Interview with Family Members
As a part of our Eumind research on the topic, “Green Meals”, we interviewed a few people on their take on the topic and why do they feel that the establishment of green meals in our lives is important. We brought up the most necessary points stated by the interviewees.
To summarize, the people we interviewed all believe that green meals play an important role in our lives as they provide us with the nutrients we need for our day to day work. It also protects us from diseases.
However, one shouldn’t only consume green meals according to the majority, as a balanced diet is key to staying fit and healthy. Eating both green and normal meals in appropriate proportions gives you the right amount of nutrition.
If everybody consumes green meals on an everyday basis, not only will the health of the general public drastically improve, it also adds a bonus as green meals usually are environmentally friendly. In the long term, it leads to a healthy life.
The addition of green meals in our lives is so important, that it cannot be stressed upon enough. If one chooses to not have green foods, it could lead to an unhealthy lifestyle. One would miss out on the nutrients received by such foods, and it could also affect fitness. The person could also have a weaker immune system and easily contract diseases.
When asked whether they would have healthy meals or junk food for the rest of their lives, all the interviewees clearly said that green meals would be their choice, as it would be beneficial in the running.
A Quiz
Here's a quiz for you to take in order to see how well you know how much greenhouse gas is emitted from a particular meal. The website also gives quite useful information.

Green Meals Promoting Campaign
Green Meals Our way-
We tried to prepare some meals at home keeping the new learning in mind
Part three : Communication
Staying in touch
Our Interaction in brief :
On interaction with the partner school and the team members of other school, culture and geographical region; we sensed the unity of being working together for our common goal- promoting green meals. We shared our research and progress. It is important to promote locally grown food as it provides employment to the farmers as well as promotes organic farming. Our research was aligned together and it was good to know that we were on the same page.

Part four : Reflections
Students' Personal Reflections :
1. Aakangsha Banerjee
Hi, I am Aakangsha Banerjee and I wanted to give a brief idea about how EUMIND experience has been. First of all, I would like to thank the school, the teachers and my teammates for taking this initiative to build a whole new learning experience. For me, Eumind has been an incredible experience from the many group calls to all the research, projects and learning that my friends got to do has been challenging and hence , a lot of fun. I think the most important thing about this whole initiative was for us to listen to others, understand and learn to work together and most importantly see that knowledge is not only served by a textbook. Obviously , there were some drawbacks as everything had to be online the feeling of collaborating and knowing different people didn’t actually happen but I look forward to knowing the amazing students from the Netherlands and definitely working with them in the future. As I was the group leader, it was also a task to contact everybody, get updates and overall assemble all the work together but I had a good amount of help from my lovely peers and Kavita ma’am. I look forward to many more projects and definitely expect more meetings with the students of the Netherlands.
2. Siddiqua Khan
When ma’am announced about the Eumind project I was excited to work on the project. I just gave my name randomly and I was also there in the list of people working on the project. I was happy to start with the project. First, we gave our individual videos and photograph to our group leader. We also did more activities and research. A a I felt special to work on this project. Learning a lot new things like there are many types of green meals and also that our meals lead global warming. It was an wonderful experience on the project with my group.
3. Ryan Jain
Eumind was a fun-filled and enriching experience in the year 2020. Our topic was green meals. The work was distributed to all members of the group. Our teacher was Kavita Ma’am and she did a good job with us and she coordinated with us kindly. The topic green meals was done by each and every group member. Siddiqua and I did the interview part. Interview was fun, I loved interviewing the expert- a dietitian. Sometimes in our group meeting someone couldn’t join and so the work was delayed a bit. We could manage to cope up and we finished all our work. We could do our work much faster if we could be aware of what we have to do and submit in a timely manner. I love being a part of Eumind and it’s great that I got time to research green meals and I loved it.
4. Sakina Rangwala
Eumind has changed my outlook towards the food I eat. I have become analytical and think twice before buying food. I prefer buying organic food and locally grown food. I also spread the knowledge I have gained through my research to my friends, family members and classmates. I think everyone should start buying and promoting locally grown food and save environment. I am determined to do my bit.
5. Melanie Rodrigues
For me, Eumind was a very fun experience. It taught me the gist of the skills of teamwork and research, which will definitely help me in my future endeavors. My team and I also got to interact with our Dutch counterparts, and talk about our topic “Green Meals” from different perspectives. I especially enjoyed making our team’s webpage, as it was something I never did before. I even got to talk to people my age who I never really spoke to before. However, as this entire experience was online, I wish we could do the same thing at physical school, but unfortunately the circumstances are such. Overall, Eumind was something where I got to learn a lot and step out of my comfort zone.
